30 June 2010 - Kenora

Day 8

Today we drove from Kakabeka to Kenora, yes 8 days and we are still in Ontario. It was sunny all day. We are at the Anicinabe Park Campground site RV25. I think this park is owned and operated by the city of Kenora. We heard a rumour that Dalton is imposing a new tax tomorrow so we are leaving Ontario to avoid paying HST for the next seven weeks.

We weren't in the campground 15 minutes when the greeting committee (see attached picture) came to say hello.

You may notice a new format for the titles (that was Delores' suggestion, thanks); and for those that had commented, we just figured out yesterday that there were comments; we weren't ignoring you, we just hadn't seen them yet...
This is the furthest west we have ever been while driving.

28 June 2010 - Kakabeka, Terry Fox

Day 6

We made it to Kakabeka Falls today (just past Thunder Bay), we are here for 2 days. We were here 6 years ago but only for a day visit, since we were camping at Sleeping Giant that trip. Today is the first time we have camped here; the loop we are in looks fairly new, and the sites are large. We drove through a lot of rain but the sun came out when we got here.

It is just past 10 PM as I am doing this and it is still very very bright outside.

We stopped for a rest break at the Terry Fox Memorial.

Day 5 - third picture as promised

27 June 2010 - Obatanga, Wawa

Day 5

Today we drove from Sault Ste. Marie to Obatanga Provincial Park. Obatanga is a great park, with a northern forest of Black spruce and I would guess that there were only 6 sites occupied when we drove in, and maybe 6 more were taken by nightfall. A very quiet and peaceful park. We stopped for a break at Wawa because Jamie had driven through here just 10 days before us and had warned us not to poke the goose (he even sent us a picture). Instead of poking, Sharon patted it.... And, for the record we covered home to Wawa in 5 days - Jamie did it in about 8 hours. And just so you don't get confused with the size of that goose, the third picture puts it into real perspective. (oops having trouble with a very slow Internet connection, I'll try that third picture later.

26 June 2010 - Sault Ste. Marie

Day 4

Staying at the KOA in Sault Ste Marie today.

We arrived to sunny skys and a beautiful day.

We went to the Casino to lose some money and surprise surprise we both won.

Sharon won $40.16 (she played the 2 cent slots) Terry won $75.50 playing 25 cents slots; then we both tried black jack. Here is a picture of Terry's winnings....

25 June 2010 - Chutes

Day 3

Still at Chutes; pleasant day; sun is out occasionally. We went for a hike on our old familiear trail. To our surprise there were lots of blueberries already ripened. We had collected blueberries here in August twice before but the June crop was plentiful. We even taught Winston how to collect his own berries.

24 June 2010 - Chutes

Day 2

Left Grundy in clouds and after an overnight thunderstorm that dumped more rain than you want to see.

Arrived at Chutes to beautiful sunny skys and warm temperatures.

23 June 2010 - Grundy

Day 1

We left home in Sunshine and arrived at Grundy in a down pour (but that is a lot better than an earth quake).

This is our test attempt at setting up a blog.
